CSR - Utility Billing

SUMMARY OF JOB

This position is responsible for ensuring that all clerical or accounting recordkeeping work for the Utility Billing Department is accurate and is in completed in accordance with city and departmental procedures and regulations. Greeting and assisting visitors, operating a multi-line telephone system; handling utility billing payments, new account setups and closings, and customer inquiries; resolving utility billing issues; and ensuring accurate input and retrieval of utility billing information.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Courteously greets customers at window. Handles all incoming calls for all City departments and routes appropriately. Accepts and processes utility payments at window. Answer’s customer questions regarding utility accounts. Processes connect and disconnect orders and all related service orders for utility customers. Balances daily drawer and prepares deposits. Provides assistance to co-workers as needed. Filing/other duties as assigned

CUSTOMER SERVICE CLERK SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

Handling difficult customers. Experience with cash handling. Experience in customer service. Great communication skills. Strong people skills and patience. Ability to multitask. Conflict resolution skills. Basic/intermediate math proficiency. Dedication to quality and details. Quickly solve problems.

CUSTOMER SERVICE CLERK REQUIREMENTS

High School GED, Diploma or equivalent required. 1-2 years work experience in a clerical setting, preferred. Proficiency with Incode software preferred. Willing to learn new tasks as assigned. Adaptable to varied customers, maintaining a pleasant demeanor with all personalities. Able to rapidly de-escalate dissatisfied customers or situations of conflict. Must speak, read and write in English; bilingual preferred but not required. Must be able to lift objects or parcels of up to 50lbs. #J-18808-Ljbffr Gfoat
