Machine Learning / AI Engineering Internship (LLM Focus)

Role Description

Infotrend Summer Internship:

• Play a pivotal role in accelerating a fast-moving project encompassing software stack development, Artificial Intelligence, Computer Vision, and network interoperability.
• Internship duration: 8 weeks from June to Early August.
• Focus on the development of an LLM+VLM tool that supports multimodal content and external enterprise data sources.
• Objective: Provide users a unified way to ask questions, analyze documents, and build retrieval workflows from various data sources.
• Join an existing team to continue the framework for secure connections to external systems, including:
• Authentication
• Configuration
• Connection health checks
• Source discovery
• Document ingestion into existing analysis and RAG pipelines
• Emphasize clean architecture for adding new connectors with minimal changes to the core platform.
• Address multi-user and multi-organization requirements such as:
• Role-based access control
• Token-based access
• Data separation between organizations and users
• Integrate a job management model for long-running operations, considering:
• Queue visibility
• Task status
• Scalable execution in a multi-user environment
• Well-suited for students interested in AI systems, backend development, API design, multimodal AI, and secure enterprise integration.
• Present features and abilities added to corporate leaders by the end of the internship.

Qualifications

• Strong understanding of distributed and concurrent systems
• Proficiency in Docker, Python, REST, LLM/VLM API usage, and on-premises infrastructure
• Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field
