Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry position on a 42-bed unit caring for complex, multi-comorbidity patients, requiring a KY or compact RN license and BLS certification.

Details

• Work on a 42-bed inpatient telemetry unit (5H) within a hospital setting
• Patient population includes complex patients with multiple comorbidities, palliative care, colorectal surgery patients on progressive ERAS protocols, MDRO patients, and a low-acuity pediatric population in 8 designated beds
• Patients are transferred from the ICU, ED, and PACU
• Day shift schedule: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM, 3x12-hour shifts per week (36 hours/week)
• 13-week contract

Requirements

• Active, unrestricted RN license in Kentucky or a compact state
• Current BLS certification
• Annual Dysrhythmia Competency Validation required
• ADN or ASN required; BSN preferred
• No prior nursing experience required — new nurses are welcome to apply
• Ability to assess age-specific patient safety needs across adult and pediatric populations
• Strong communication, collaboration, and active listening skills
• Basic computer proficiency or willingness to be trained on systems
• MM/DD of date of birth and last 4 digits of SSN required for consideration

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include comprehensive patient assessments, care planning, patient and family education, discharge coordination, and ongoing documentation using the nursing process
• Delegates appropriately to and oversees other care team members in execution of the plan of care
• Participates in unit-based quality improvement activities including patient satisfaction, fall prevention, pressure ulcer prevention, CAUTI reduction, and documentation auditing
• BSN is preferred but not required
