Realize the advantages of advancing your career with an organization where you can expect supportive leadership, state-of-the-art technological resources, inter-professional teamwork, and innovative learning./ppThe medical assistant - certified provides basic clinical care using technical skills for patients according to established standards and reports patient observations to licensed staff./pulliCollects patient assessment data including height, weight, vital signs, chief complaint/symptoms, current medications, etc. for assessment by licensed staff./liliTransports patients through office./liliPrepares the patient for provider evaluation, including obtaining specimens, positioning for exams, listing medications, and assists during exams and procedures./liliMaintains work area, exam treatment and x-ray rooms and lab in a clean, safe manner; restocks with supplies and instruments; and sterilizes reusable equipment as needed./liliDocuments patient information in the medical record in a timely manner to include update treatment procedures, medication refills, test results, patient concerns, etc. in compliance with applicable Carilion Clinic policies and procedures. Observes all safety precautions and standards./liliAssists with lab procedures, including collecting urine specimens, collecting and preparing blood samples for reference lab, labeling all specimens with accurate patient ID as ordered by the physician./liliMay perform diagnostic tests (EKGs, audiograms, vision testing, spirometry) as appropriate for assessment by licensed staff./liliAssists with referral authorizations for specialists and pre-authorization for testing and ancillary services as directed by licensed staff, provider or mid-level practitioner./liliGreets patients and assists with check-in/check-out procedures/liliUpdates patient demographic information./liliAnswers phones; schedules appointments; and relays messages./liliUtilizes automated computer systems, including electronic medical records./liliMay administer oral and parenteral medications./li/ulpEducation: High School Diploma or GED./ppExperience: none/ppLicensure, certification, and/or registration: Medical Assistant Certification through a recognized national professional association such as, the American Association of Medical Assistants, the American Medical Technologists, The National Association of Healthcare Professions, the American Registry of Medical Assistants, or the National Healthcare Association./ppMay be hired on a provisional status once the applicant receives the letter confirming they have taken the certification exam and have a provisional passing score./ppLife Support: AHA BLS-HCP required./ppOther Minimum Qualifications: Effective communication skills and problem-solve.
