Job Description
Clinical Educator

Position Overview

The Clinical Educator plays a critical role in maintaining an ongoing clinical education program for nursing staff, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and enhancing professional development. This position involves collaboration with clinical staff and performance improvement teams to develop competency in various specialties.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, teach, and evaluate training programs for clinical staff.
  • Act as an internal training and organizational development consultant.
  • Plan, implement, coordinate, and administer clinical specialty training programs.
  • Oversee the trauma registrar program to maintain compliance with state regulations.
  • Facilitate communication regarding continuing education opportunities within the community.
  • Collaborate with departments to improve the clinical learning environment and quality of education.
  • Conduct comprehensive evaluations of educational activities to enhance professional development.
  • Lead audits in relation to clinical education and develop action plans for improvements.
  • Coordinate educational activities and training resources for ACLS, PALS, BLS, and TNCC programs.
  • Supervise the trauma registrar program and provide education on trauma designation and recertification.
Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing.
  • Current full, unrestricted Registered Nursing license in Alaska or other U.S. state.
  • 3 years of professional clinical instructor experience required.
  • 5 years of professional nursing experience with a minimum of 2 years as a staff RN in a specialty (ER, ICU, OB, OR).
  • ACLS, BLS, PALS certifications required; TNCC instructor certification preferred.
  • Two years of supervisory experience required.
Knowledge and Skills
  • Strong understanding of professional nursing principles and practices.
  • Specialized knowledge in nursing management for adult and geriatric patient care.
  • Familiarity with the Alaska State Trauma Program and trauma education requirements.
  • Ability to develop and facilitate relevant and effective education for adult learners.
  • Expertise in using evidence-based research to improve nursing practice and patient outcomes.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Capability to create comprehensive training programs across various levels of care.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear and frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands, and reach with arms. The role may also involve lifting or moving up to 50 lbs as needed.
