Tax Preparation Relationship Manager

Role Overview We are seeking a highly organized, client-focused Relationship Manager to be the backbone of our Avon, CT office. This role combines client relationship ownership, tax preparation, team coordination, and billing oversight. The ideal candidate has tax office experience, strong communication skills, and the ability to manage priorities across CPAs, administrative staff, and clients. Key Responsibilities Serve as first line of client contact and owner of ongoing client relationships.Should be able to triage and prioritize incoming client communications for CPAs. Prepare tax returns manually or using OCR-assisted tools when needed. Lead adoption and implementation of new technology and tools. Manage billing processes and follow up on outstanding payments. Oversee backend tax return workflows, including e-signature coordination and return filing. Track client portal uploads and follow up on missing documentation. Field and resolve client questions when possible; elevate complex issues to CPAs. Manage and mentor administrative staff; oversee phone coverage, CRM usage, and calendar management. Assist CPAs with workload prioritization and “manage up” to ensure the correct tasks and issues are being addressed in a timely manner. Support ad hoc projects and process-improvement initiatives. Required Qualifications Prior experience working in a tax or public accounting environment (tax filing familiarity required). Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint). Strong attention to detail, time management, and organizational skills. Excellent interpersonal and customer-service skills. Team-oriented mindset. Preferred Qualifications Experience with tax software (Lacerte a plus). Actively pursuing or planning to pursue CPA designation is a plus.
