Shared Services Supervisor

Position Summary As the Shared Services Supervisor, you will be at the forefront of ensuring smooth and accurate workforce data processing and excellent customer service for State of South Dakota employees. This is an impactful role where you will lead critical intake, setup, and pre‑processing functions, preparing essential data for seamless handoff to the Auditor’s Office and Bureau of Finance and Management. This role is designed for a motivated and detail‑oriented leader ready to drive accountability, inspire a high‑performing team, and enhance operational excellence across statewide agencies. Key Responsibilities Guide a multi‑functional team, upholding strict standards of data integrity and ensuring that timelines are consistently met. Drive accountability and inspire a high‑performing team to establish accurate and reliable data flows that directly support thousands of state employees. Lead and manage intake, setup, and pre‑processing functions to prepare essential data for seamless handoff to the Auditor’s Office and Bureau of Finance and Management. Innovate workflow efficiency and process accuracy by identifying opportunities for improvement and implementing effective solutions. Collaborate closely with agency representatives, fostering accountability and ensuring data collection and validation meet the highest standards. Manage travel requirements and coordinate with the state office during the first six months, and later as needed. Licenses and Certifications Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) is preferred. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge Data Integrity and Security Protocols – safeguarding data accuracy, confidentiality, and security throughout the intake and pre‑processing stages. HR and Compliance Regulations – knowledge of state and federal labor laws, HR policies, and compliance standards relevant to timekeeping and data integrity. Timekeeping and Workforce Data Management Systems – familiarity with systems for time tracking, attendance, and employee data management. Skills Leadership and Team Supervision – supervise, coach, and inspire a team in a collaborative, service‑oriented environment. Communication and Interpersonal Skills – excellent verbal and written communication for working with diverse teams and building consensus. Attention to Detail and Accuracy – high level of accuracy to ensure compliance and reliability. Abilities Planning and Execution – assist in implementing an HR shared services model aligned with state objectives. Adaptability and Flexibility – navigate and lead change, adapt to new technologies, and respond to evolving needs. Time Management and Prioritization – manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and prioritize work effectively in a high‑demand environment. Customer Service Orientation – dedication to providing excellent service to employees and building effective partnerships across agencies. Location and Working Conditions The selected candidate will be required to work in a state office for the first six months of employment, with the possibility of hybrid work after a successful probationary period. If located outside Pierre, the candidate will be required to work in Pierre 1–2 times per month for the first six months, and will travel to Pierre and other areas within the state as needed throughout the year. Benefits and Compensation Salary: $28.54–$35.66 hourly, depending on qualifications. Pay Grade: J. Benefits include $0 premium employee health insurance option, eleven paid holidays, generous vacation and sick leave accrual, dental, vision, and other insurance options, and retirement benefits as a member of Class A under SDRS.
