Description:
The Special Education Teacher Assistant will work with students with disabilities under the direction and supervision of certified personnel.
The focus will be to assist students in reaching their goals as indicated on their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
Responsibilities will include implementing IEP goals and providing small group and one-on-one instruction as needed.
Assisting teachers and therapists in maintaining appropriate data and records is essential.
Support will be provided in the continuous implementation of skills and goals associated with students' needs.
Computer skills and communication devices will need to be maintained for student use.
The ability to implement equipment, sensory, mobility, behavior plans, and self-care plans is vital.
The physical ability to assist in lifting students for positioning and toileting is essential.
Candidates must demonstrate sound decision-making capabilities consistent with established policies and procedures.
Following instructions provided by school staff is required.
Familiarity with rules and regulations governing the education of students, including those with disabilities, is necessary.
Direct academic, behavioral, and self-help support must be provided in both regular and special education classrooms.
Utilizing current technology to reproduce and maintain files of learning materials is expected.
Candidates must be able to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate required mobility and agility.
All certification requirements must be kept current.
Eligibility may also include additional qualifications deemed appropriate.
