Cardiovascular Technologist

Job Summary

The Cardiovascular Technologist will support physicians during a variety of invasive cardiac and peripheral diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, including the placement of temporary and permanent pacemakers. This role also involves assisting with circulatory support devices as needed, such as Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump (IABP) and Impella.

Job Responsibilities

• Prepare and organize equipment and sterile trays for each procedure.
• Assist the procedure room team with patient positioning and monitoring preparation.
• Calibrate and test transducers for accurate pressure readings.
• Support physicians throughout diagnostic and interventional procedures.
• Operate power injectors and associated sterile support equipment.
• Maneuver table controls for physicians as requested; radiology technologists will handle fluoroscopy as needed.
• Calibrate hemodynamic monitoring equipment and gather, calculate, and analyze hemodynamic data collected during procedures.
• Calculate and document cardiac output and oximetry readings.
• Utilize and maintain standards for digital cine technology, ensuring proper storage and retrieval of patient images and hemodynamic records.
• Assist with vascular access, sheath removal, and hemostatic closure devices while ensuring hemostasis at the access site.
• Manage inventory control, maintain PAR levels, and prepare required equipment for procedures.
• Adhere to practice requirements related to Clinical Cardiovascular Information Systems (CVIS).
• Prepare and care for equipment safely, returning supplies as necessary.
• Participate in on-call responsibilities as outlined in organizational policies and procedures.
• Apply radial access banding while maintaining hemostasis at the access site.
• Recognize and interpret various cardiac arrhythmias.
• Assist in the maintenance, calibration, and routine evaluation of all diagnostic and technical equipment.

Work Schedule

Shifts are available from 11 AM to 7:30 PM or 9 AM to 7:30 PM, with options for 5x8 hour shifts or 4x10 hour shifts. Weekend and holiday work may be required.

Experience and Skills

• Previous experience in a cath lab or electrophysiology required.
• Knowledge of electrophysiology intra-procedure mapping, ablation, and implant devices.
• Required sterile scrub technique.
