Position Summary

Join the University of New Mexico Facility Services department as a Master Electrician and play a critical role in maintaining and enhancing the electrical systems that power one of New Mexico's premier institutions.

As a key member of our facilities team, you'll work on complex electrical systems, provide expert-level guidance, and ensure the safe, efficient operation of campus infrastructure in a collaborative, forward-thinking environment.

Key Responsibilities:

* Installs and monitors performance of installed electrical equipment for hazards, adjustments, or replacement.

* Repairs, installs, replaces, and tests electrical circuits, equipment, and appliances using appropriate tools and testing instruments.

* Leads, guides, and/or trains other electricians in applicable procedures and techniques.

* Repairs and maintains motor control centers and programmable logic controls (1000 volt and below).

* Plans electrical secondary system additions or modifications.

* May perform work of lower level electricians.

* Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.

* Reads, employs, and updates electrical panel schedules.

Conditions of Employment

• Possession of a valid New Mexico driver's license is a requirement for this job.
• Must pass a pre-employment criminal background check.
• CPR and First Aid certification must be obtained within 6 months of date of hire.
• Successful candidate must submit to post-offer, pre-employment physical examination and medical history check.
• All regular, non-temporary positions assigned to this classification are represented by a labor union and subject to the terms and conditions of the CWA Collective Bargaining Agreement.
• Employees who provide services or work in patient care or clinical areas are required to be in compliance with the University's influenza vaccination requirement.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; at least 6 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
Possession of a current New Mexico Electrical Journeyman License (EE98J) and a current second New Mexico Electrical Journeyman License.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications

* Possession of an EE-98, EL-1, EL-1J License

* Experience testing, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical equipment

* Experience keeping accurate maintenance record in portable recording device (iPad)

* Experience leading lower-level technicians in performing complex repairs/providing structured training
