Pierce County District Court is a court of limited jurisdiction and hears a wide range of cases, including: Traffic and non-traffic infractions Criminal and criminal-traffic misdemeanors and gross misdemeanors Civil matters for damages for injury to individuals or personal property, and contract disputes no greater than $100,000 Small claims for recovery of money not to exceed $10,000 Name changes Anti-harassment protection orders Stalking protection orders We encourage you to learn more about our department by clicking here. Your Future In This Role Throughout the onboarding process, you will meet with the Supervisors, teams, and the admin team regularly to discuss expectations, set goals, identify priorities, and gain familiarity with current policies, procedures, and strategic measures. Core Daily Responsibilities Records person and case information into DISCIS and other computer programs. Processes and/or prepares warrants, citations, subpoenas, summonses, motions, notices, and other legal documents. Constructs and maintains case files and court records on which subsequent actions must be taken. Files correspondence, forms, invoices, receipts, documents and case files in alphabetical or numerical order and retrieves documents and case files. Provides assistance to the public at the counter and on the phone involving application of the tasks in the assigned unit. To view the complete classification, click here. Minimum Qualifications Additional education or experience may substitute for the recruiting requirements. Graduation from high school or equivalent, AND At least two years of clerical experience. Experience in a district or municipal court or legal office and JIS computer experience preferred. As a condition of employment, the applicant will need to authorize and complete a background check.
