About the Role:

A growing law firm is seeking an entry-level Associate Attorney to join its legal team in West Virginia. This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney with approximately 1 3 years of legal experience who is looking to build a strong foundation in litigation and develop their legal practice within a collaborative and supportive environment.

The ideal candidate will be a motivated, detail-oriented attorney who can manage assigned matters, conduct legal research, draft legal documents, communicate with clients and colleagues, and represent clients in appropriate court proceedings. Attorneys located in Charleston, West Virginia, or Kanawha County are preferred, with candidates from southern West Virginia encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage assigned legal matters from initial assessment through resolution.
• Conduct legal research and analyze statutes, regulations, case law, and court procedures.
• Draft and review pleadings, motions, notices, orders, correspondence, and other legal documents.
• Prepare cases for hearings, conferences, negotiations, and other legal proceedings.
• Attend court hearings, conferences, and other proceedings as required.
• Communicate professionally with clients, opposing counsel, courts, and internal staff.
• Review case materials, identify legal issues, and develop appropriate strategies.
• Monitor case deadlines and maintain organized, accurate case files.
• Collaborate with paralegals, attorneys, and other legal professionals to ensure effective case management.
• Provide timely and practical legal advice under the supervision and guidance of experienced attorneys.
• Maintain accurate case information and documentation within electronic case management systems.
• Manage multiple assignments while maintaining strong attention to detail and meeting deadlines.
• Uphold professional, ethical, and confidentiality standards in all client matters.

Required Qualifications:

• J.D. from an accredited law school.
• Active admission to the West Virginia Bar required.
• Approximately 1 3 years of legal experience in a law firm or similar legal environment.
• Candidates located in Charleston, WV, or Kanawha County are strongly preferred.
• Candidates from southern West Virginia are encouraged to apply.
• Experience with litigation, real estate, creditors' rights, foreclosure, or related practice areas is helpful but not required.
• Strong legal research, writing, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to draft clear, accurate, and professional legal documents.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines effectively.
• Comfortable working independently while collaborating with attorneys and legal support staff.
• Strong work ethic, professionalism, sound judgment, and willingness to learn.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and electronic legal case management systems.
• Ability to travel to courts and other locations as required.
