Staff Accountant
Commercial Asphalt Supply is seeking a motivated staff accountant to join our accounting team. This position offers exposure to all aspects of accounting and finance within a growing, family-owned company. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, enjoys solving problems, and is looking for an opportunity to build a long-term career in private industry.
Responsibilities
The focus of this role is on being a well-rounded accounting professional who supports a variety of accounting and financial functions, including:
- Maintain and analyze inventory and production costing.
- Verify, record, and process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions.
- Prepare and post accurate general ledger journal entries.
- Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial close processes.
- Prepare account reconciliations and supporting schedules.
- Assist with payroll processing and related reporting.
- Analyze financial data and prepare ad hoc reports for management.
- Collaborate with operations, plant personnel, and management to improve accounting processes and internal controls.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and other special projects as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, xlookup, and other advanced functions; power query or VBA experience is a plus).
- Self-motivated, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Experience with foundation software, heavybid, or similar erp/accounting software is a plus.
