Role Description This is a contract, hybrid Guidance, Navigation & Controls Engineer role based in the Washington DC–Baltimore Area, with flexibility for some work from home. The engineer will design, implement, and validate guidance, navigation, and control algorithms for APNT-enabled aircraft systems. Day-to-day responsibilities include modeling and simulation of control systems, analyzing sensor and flight data, and tuning control loops to meet performance and safety requirements. The role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to integrate hardware and software, performing system-level troubleshooting, and supporting lab and flight tests. The engineer will also document designs, test procedures, and results, and contribute to continuous improvement of navigation and timing solutions.
Qualifications

Strong foundation in Electrical Engineering with experience in control systems and embedded hardware integration.
Proficiency in Process Control and Motion Control, including modeling, simulation, and tuning of guidance and control loops.
Hands-on experience with Robotics and automation systems, including sensor integration and autonomous motion.
Demonstrated capability in Troubleshooting complex electro-mechanical systems and diagnosing control and navigation issues.
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Robotics, or related field; advanced degree is a plus.
Experience with aircraft or aerospace guidance, navigation, and control (GNC) systems and related simulation tools (e.g., MATLAB/Simulink, Python) is highly beneficial.
Familiarity with navigation sensors and APNT concepts, such as inertial navigation, RF-based positioning, or multi-sensor fusion, is an advantage.
Ability to work effectively in a hybrid environment, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and communicate technical information clearly.
