Nurse Practitioner – Neuro Oncology (Outpatient) Location: University Medical Center - New Orleans Position Type: Full‑Time Position Summary The Nurse Practitioner – Neuro Oncology (Outpatient) provides comprehensive, patient‑centered medical care to individuals with complex neurologic cancers. Working collaboratively with Neuro‑Oncology physicians and the multidisciplinary care team, this role is responsible for assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, symptom management, and ongoing evaluation of patient outcomes. Key Responsibilities Perform comprehensive patient evaluations, including physical examinations and preventive health assessments, in accordance with physician guidelines and protocols. Develop and implement individualized treatment plans for patients with neurologic malignancies. Manage complex symptoms associated with cancer and cancer treatments, including high‑acuity outpatient needs. Monitor patient responses to medical and nursing interventions and adjust care plans accordingly. Collaborate closely with Neuro‑Oncology physicians, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary teams. Provide patient and family education, counseling, and support throughout the treatment continuum. Maintain accurate and timely medical documentation in the electronic health record. Support quality, safety, and patient‑experience initiatives within the growing Neuro‑Oncology program. Qualifications Master’s or Doctoral degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program. Active Nurse Practitioner license in the state of Louisiana (or eligibility for licensure). National certification as a Nurse Practitioner. Oncology, neurology, or acute care experience strongly preferred. Strong clinical judgment and ability to manage complex, high‑acuity patients. Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification from the American Heart Association. Registered Nursing License (RN) from the Louisiana State Board of Nursing. Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) certification from the Louisiana State Board of Nursing. Why Join Our Neuro‑Oncology Program?
