Job Summary: Lead Medical Laboratory Scientist with microbiology experience responsible for overseeing daily laboratory operations, ensuring quality testing, and maintaining compliance. Acts as a resource for technical troubleshooting and staff supervision, supporting efficient specimen processing and result reporting.

Responsibilities:

• 
  Manage the operational and technical functions of the microbiology section, ensuring adherence to policies and procedures.
  
  
• 
  Perform and supervise all laboratory procedures within established turnaround times, including proficiency testing and critical value reporting.
  
  
• 
  Monitor supplies and reagents, coordinate instrument maintenance, and act as liaison with vendors to ensure continuous workflow.
  
  
• 
  Assign tasks, train staff, and evaluate performance to uphold competency and quality standards.
  
  
• 
  Enforce safety protocols, maintain infection control practices, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
  
  
• 
  Review equipment performance, analyze data, and oversee quality control processes including calibration, proficiency testing, and troubleshooting.
  
  

Qualifications:

• 
  Hold a valid Certified Medical Laboratory Scientist (ASCP) credential.
  
  
• 
  Possess a Bachelors degree with 16 semester hours in biological sciences (including microbiology), chemistry, and mathematics or an accredited associate degree with relevant experience.
  
  
• 
  Have a minimum of three years of relevant experience in a high-complexity laboratory.
  
  
• 
  Demonstrate strong leadership, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  
  
• 
  Exhibit knowledge of laboratory regulations, safety measures, and quality assurance protocols.
