That future will only be possible if we share our vision and what it means to people’s lives: carbon-free flight that is better for both passengers and carriers. As an Electrical Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, testing, and integrating the electrical power generation and distribution systems for JetZero's demonstrator aircraft. You will collaborate closely with systems engineering teams, labs, and technicians to ensure the electrical power system meets all aircraft power requirements and regulatory compliance standards.JetZero is a place for people who are ambitious, talented, and humble. This role is based in Long Beach, CA reporting to the Demonstrator Systems team.Responsibilities for this role include:Design, integrate, and test AC electrical power generation systems including engine-driven generators, generator controllers, and associated power conversion equipmentReview and update AC and DC electrical power distribution system architecture, including electrical load analysis, bus signal configuration, and power routingConduct electrical power system analysis for aircraft power requirements and load balancingDevelop and review electrical test plans for power generation and distribution; conduct bench testing and in-flight testing on the demonstrator aircraftDefine electrical power system components and parts list; coordinate supplier selection and technical integration for generators, power conditioners, and distribution componentsDesign the aircraft current return path and electrical grounding network strategy, including ground bond analysis and lightning strike protection considerationsDevelop and review electrical system documentation including design specifications, test plans, and failure mode analysisTroubleshoot electrical power system test failures and conduct root-cause analysis; implement design corrections and verification testingWork collaboratively with cross-functional teams (propulsion, structures, avionics, thermal), providing technical guidance on electrical power architecture and system constraintsWhat You Bring:Bachelor's or Master's degree in electrical engineering, aerospace engineering, or related engineering discipline10+ years of experience in electrical power systems design for Part 25 aircraft (AC generation, DC distribution, power management)Experience analyzing technical data and performance testing for electrical power systemsStrong ability to troubleshoot power generation and distribution failures and drive root-cause investigations with clear documentationComfortable wearing multiple hats, intellectual curiosity, and strong cross-functional versatilityProven track record of system integration and test execution on aircraft programsExperience with supplier technical management and oversightPreferred Skills & Experience:Direct experience on experimental aircraft or flight demonstrator programs (experimental or similar)Knowledge of FAA/EASA electrical system regulations (Part 25 electrical systems, EWIS, lightning and HIRF protection)Familiarity with electrical system design standards: DO-160 (Environmental Conditions and Test Procedures), DO-254 (Design Assurance Guidance), ARP4754A, ARP4761Advanced experience with power generation, energy storage, and distribution architectures (AC/DC hybrid, high-voltage systems, power electronics)Familiarity with digital thread approaches and aerospace CAD/PLM toolsBackground or interest in hydrogen propulsion electrical systems or advanced aircraft power architecturesCompensation: Our compensation package is a blend of base salary and equity options for eligible employees. The range for this role is $135,000 to $165,000. We consider a number of factors when presenting a final offer, including geography, internal equity and years of experience and expertise.
