Intern, Accounting

Gray Construction is currently looking for an Accounting Intern for its Lexington, KY office. Candidates should be in pursuit of a college degree in Accounting or Finance. The Accounting department supports Gray’s teams by delivering accounting services accurately and timely. Our responsibilities include supporting our customers’ needs while maintaining internal controls and complying with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. During this internship you will work on many internal accounting and project cost projects along with other duties as assigned. Basic computer skills are required, including word processing, spreadsheet, and e‑mail applications. The new team member should be energetic, self‑motivated, and thrive in a team environment. Responsibilities Support the finance team by posting miscellaneous cash receipts. Perform general administrative tasks, including scanning check stubs and organizing digital records. Prepare and mail credit cards to employees as part of the company’s credit card issuance process. Accurately enter vendor invoices into the accounting system for processing and payment. Assist with reviewing and authorizing subcontractor invoices, ensuring accuracy and adherence to contract terms. Provide backup support for compliance reviews to ensure alignment with company policies and procedures. Review and post invoices as needed, ensuring prompt and accurate processing. Process travel and expense requests through Concur, verifying information for accuracy and policy compliance. Other duties assigned by accounting team/manager. Gray internships are open to students legally authorized to work in the U.S. that do not need current and/or future visa sponsorship or work status authorization for employment. Physical Demands & Work Environment The role requires frequent standing, walking, sitting, use of hands and arms, reaching, talking or hearing. You will also climb or balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch. The position may involve lifting up to 30 lbs. frequently and up to 100 lbs. occasionally. Specific vision requirements include accurate near and distant vision. Work is generally in a normal office environment with moderate noise but may occasionally involve wet or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, outside weather, and exposure to fumes or airborne particles.
