Emergency Room Registered Nurse (RN)An Emergency Room Registered Nurse (RN) is essential for providing high-quality patient care in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will possess strong clinical skills, the ability to manage high-acuity cases, and the capability to thrive under pressure.Key ResponsibilitiesPerform comprehensive patient assessments and provide evidence-based nursing care in the emergency department.Manage patient care effectively within a 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio, which may vary in triage and intake areas.Administer medications, monitor vital signs, and perform necessary medical interventions.Collaborate with the healthcare team to plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans.Maintain a sterile field during medical procedures and ensure compliance with infection control practices.Utilize advanced technology and information systems, including Cerner EMR, for documentation and patient care management.Participate in patient education and discharge planning.Take part in ongoing training and skills development, including participation in SIMs Lab for catheter insertion and dressing changes.QualificationsMinimum of 2 years of Emergency Department experience.Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS, TNCC, NIHSS (AHA approved).Ability to pass a dysrhythmia exam with a minimum score of 80% within two attempts.Experience with Cerner electronic medical record system is preferred.Excellent communication, teamwork, and multitasking skills.Work EnvironmentThe Emergency Department includes a total of 20 beds and averages approximately 105 patients per day. The department utilizes a fast-track model for efficiency and includes a psychiatric seclusion room. The nursing staff may float between various areas within the emergency department as needed.Scheduling and RequirementsShifts typically include days, midshifts, and nights. A minimum of every other weekend is required, along with participation in holiday rotations.Two 12-hour on-call shifts are required every four weeks.Adherence to hospital policies and procedures for patient safety and care.Additional InformationOrientation specific to the Emergency Department will be provided for all new staff. The successful candidate will demonstrate competence in high-stakes environments while promoting a positive patient experience.
