Job Opportunity: Pediatrician

Our organization is a physician-led multispecialty group with over 650 providers, currently seeking a board-certified or board-eligible physician (MD/DO) who is dedicated to a collaborative, multidisciplinary approach to healthcare. This role involves working as a hybrid Pediatrician, dividing time between an outpatient clinic and the Newbornist service. Join a well-established, busy practice consisting of six physicians and three advanced practice providers, delivering exceptional care in a supportive environment, alongside our expanding inpatient pediatric hospitalist team focused on newborns and their families at our Boise facility.

Our child-friendly clinic is situated on the grounds of a regional Level II Trauma Center, conveniently located near Pediatric GI, laboratory, radiology, and other essential services.

Position Details

This is a full-time role, with 0.5 FTE dedicated to the Pediatric Clinic and 0.5 FTE as a Pediatric Hospitalist. The staffing model includes:

• Newborn Nursery: 24-hour shifts consisting of 8 hours on-site and 16 hours on-call, with the Neonatology Team serving as the primary on-call provider overnight.
• A balanced clinic schedule with traditional workweeks complemented by hospital shifts.
• Parent call only (with answering and triage services), on a 1:8 rotation, occurring weekly.

About the Family Maternity Center

The Family Maternity Center delivers over 1,200 infants annually and is supported by a highly qualified labor and delivery nursing staff, an OB Hospitalist service, 24-hour anesthesia coverage, and a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Our safety-focused team of OB/GYNs collaborates with on-campus Maternal Fetal Medicine specialists, Neonatologists, and genetic counselors to cater to a diverse patient population. The postpartum unit features 16 private family rooms where infants can room-in with their mothers or intended parents. We provide excellent support from lactation consultants, neonatal pharmacists, nutritionists, occupational therapists, social workers, and case management to address the unique needs of each family.

With a strong commitment to practicing current, evidence-based medicine, the Family Maternity Center and NICU teams adopt a family-centered approach, encouraging collaboration between parents and our expert staff in both Boise and Nampa units to achieve outcomes that surpass national benchmarks.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct shift-based rounds on newborn nursery patients, including physical examinations, completing histories and physicals, daily progress notes, and discharge summaries, along with parent education and guidance for well newborns.
• Manage well-newborn patients effectively.
• Engage in multidisciplinary rounds with nursery staff, providing active management strategies that may involve nutritional adjustments, clinical management, lab and radiology reviews, and family updates.
• Perform circumcisions and frenotomies as necessary.
• Offer on-call support for well-newborn infants and facilitate transfers to the NICU when clinically indicated.
• Coordinate hand-offs to the NICU team for overnight primary clinical management, transitioning to backup on-call provider for unexpected high acuity cases or unique pediatric care needs.
• Develop and maintain a half-time patient panel in the clinic setting.

Ideal Candidate Qualifications

• Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) degree.
• Successful completion of an accredited ACGME/AOA Pediatrics Residency.
• Certification by the AAP or the ability to obtain such certification within three years of employment.
• Idaho medical licensure and privileges at the Boise facility.
• Desired qualities include teamwork, leadership, adherence to protocols, and strong surgical and OB sonography skills.
• Current DEA and controlled substance registration.
• Commitment to practicing evidence-based medicine, fostering a culture of transformational care, and demonstrating organizational mission, vision, and values.
• A passion for teaching and educating staff.
