Intervention Teacher
The Intervention Teacher provides targeted, evidence-based academic interventions to students identified through data as performing below grade-level expectations. The Intervention Teacher collaborates with classroom teachers, instructional leaders, special education personnel, English Learner staff, and administrators to improve student achievement through implementation of the Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS), Response to Instruction (RTI), and other state and district initiatives. The Intervention Teacher supports the academic success of all students while ensuring compliance with Alabama State Department of Education requirements.
The Intervention Teacher shall:
- Provide evidence-based Tier II and Tier III interventions to students identified through district screening and assessment data.
- Deliver instruction aligned to Alabama Course of Study Standards.
- Implement intervention programs with fidelity.
- Differentiate instruction to address individual student learning needs.
- Maintain a positive, engaging, and supportive learning environment.
- Utilize scientifically research-based instructional practices.
- Administer diagnostic, benchmark, and progress monitoring assessments.
- Analyze student data to determine instructional needs.
- Monitor student progress using district-approved assessment tools.
- Maintain accurate intervention documentation.
- Recommend instructional adjustments based upon student performance.
- Participate actively in MTSS/RTI meetings.
- Assist in identifying students needing additional instructional support.
- Develop and implement intervention plans.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to ensure continuity between Tier I instruction and intervention services.
- Monitor intervention effectiveness and recommend movement between intervention tiers based on student data.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers regarding instructional strategies.
- Work closely with instructional coaches, administrators, counselors, special education teachers, and EL teachers.
- Participate in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs).
- Communicate student progress regularly with parents and guardians.
- Participate in parent conferences when requested.
For grades covered under the Alabama Literacy Act, the Intervention Teacher shall:
- Provide intensive reading interventions to students identified with reading deficiencies.
- Assist in developing Student Reading Improvement Plans (SRIPs), when assigned.
- Monitor progress toward grade-level reading proficiency.
- Support implementation of Alabama Literacy Act requirements.
- Maintain required documentation for student intervention services.
- Maintain confidentiality of student records.
- Attend faculty meetings, professional development, and required trainings.
- Participate in district and school improvement initiatives.
- Maintain accurate instructional records.
- Utilize district technology systems appropriately.
- Adhere to all Board policies and procedures.
The employee should demonstrate:

- Ability to interpret assessment data.
- Ability to build positive relationships with students and families.
- Strong classroom management skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication.

- Proficiency with instructional technology and student information systems.
The employee must be able to:
- Stand and walk for extended periods.
- Lift instructional materials up to 25 pounds.
- Operate classroom technology.
- Perform duties requiring bending, reaching, and occasional lifting.
- Perform all essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
Performance shall be evaluated in accordance with:
- Alabama Teacher Excellence and Accountability for Mathematics and Science (TEAMS) or other state-approved educator evaluation system, as applicable.
- Greene County Board of Education policies and procedures.
- School improvement goals.
- Student academic growth data, where appropriate.
Employment is contingent upon compliance with all Alabama State Department of Education certification requirements, Greene County Board of Education policies, and applicable state and federal laws.
