JOINT OPERATIONS PLANS SPECIALIST (MARITIME).

Job Summary Coordinate and plan maritime missions for USSOUTHCOM, ensuring effective interagency collaboration and timely deployment. Responsibilities Plan and coordinate maritime missions to USSOUTHCOM’s Area of Responsibility. Serve as point of contact for deliberate and crisis action planning. Convert maritime correspondence into USSOUTHCOM Concept Plans, Operational Plans, Campaign Plans, and Operations Orders. Coordinate Request for Forces (RFF) in conjunction with Joint Operational Planning and Execution Systems (JOPES). Requirements Appointment may require a suitability or fitness determination based on a completed background investigation. Must obtain and maintain a Top‑Secret security clearance with Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) access. Required to deploy on short notice as directed by the Secretary of Defense in response to a Presidential Disaster Declaration (PDD) involving acts of terrorism, natural disasters, homeland defense or civil support contingency operations. Overtime and shift work may be required on short notice, including nights, holidays, and weekends. May need a mobile phone/PDA and must maintain a working telephone at all times. Position requires drug testing. Position requires annual seasonal influenza vaccination. Applicants tentatively selected will sign a statement consenting to vaccinations. Direct deposit of pay is required. Ensuring resources are allocated through planning and evaluation of organizational status to enhance readiness for future missions. Interpreting guidance to collaborate with numerous agencies and sources to assess the impact of plans and policies on the maritime mission. Substitution of education for experience is not permitted for this position. Male applicants born after December 31, 1959 must complete a Pre‑Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. Must provide proof of U.S. citizenship. Time‑in‑grade requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS‑12).
