Our Transportation Team is seeking an experienced CADD Design Technician to support bridge design and plan production using modern Bentley design tools, including OpenRoads Designer, OpenBridge Modeler, and MicroStation, based in St. Louis, MO. In this role, you’ll be a key member of our bridge and transportation structures team, producing high‑quality 2D and 3D design deliverables for DOT, municipal, and infrastructure clients. You’ll collaborate closely with engineers and multidisciplinary project teams to develop bridge layouts, structural details, plans, quantities, and design models that meet client, company, and industry standards. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced technician who enjoys technical design, plan production, problem‑solving, and mentoring others while contributing to meaningful transportation infrastructure projects. The final candidate for this role will be located within the St. Louis, MO area. Responsibilities Developing detailed bridge and transportation structural drawings, layouts, models, and plan sets using MicroStation, OpenRoads Designer, OpenBridge Modeler and related CADD tools. Preparing complex 2D and 3D drawings for bridge, roadway‑structure interface, retaining wall, culvert, and other transportation structural projects. Supporting bridge plan production, including general plans, elevations, sections, details, reinforcing layouts, bar schedules, quantities, and bills of materials. Applying company, client, DOT, and industry CADD standards to produce accurate, coordinated, and constructible design documents. Working closely with bridge engineers, roadway designers, and other disciplines to coordinate design intent and resolve conflicts. Developing alternate layouts and design details as needed to support project requirements. Performing complex drafting and design technician tasks independently while also contributing as part of a collaborative project team. Serving as a Lead Designer on small to medium‑sized bridge or transportation structures projects, as appropriate. Reviewing drawings, models, supplier data, and design information for accuracy, completeness, and coordination. Performing discipline‑specific checking procedures and quality reviews as assigned. Providing technical guidance, CADD support, and mentorship to junior designers and technicians. Assisting with bridge or structural field inspections and construction‑phase support, as needed. Qualifications Diploma or degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Drafting/Design Technology, or a related technical field, or equivalent years of experience. Previous experience in structural, bridge, or transportation infrastructure drafting/design. Hands‑on experience supporting bridge and transportation structures projects, ideally for DOT or public infrastructure clients. Proficiency with MicroStation, OpenRoads Designer, and/or OpenBridge Modeler. Experience with AutoCAD and other CADD/design production tools. Ability to develop accurate 2D plan sheets and contribute to 3D modeling workflows. Working knowledge of bridge detailing, reinforcing steel details, bar schedules, quantities, and structural plan production. Familiarity with DOT CADD standards, transportation project delivery, and multidisciplinary coordination. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Adobe, and Bluebeam. Strong time management, communication, leadership, and problem‑solving skills. Ability to work independently, coordinate with engineers, and mentor less‑experienced team members. Salary The base salary range for this position is $75,000.00 to $118,000.00; it will be paid hourly based on hours worked. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job‑related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
