Position Summary
Central Wyoming College seeks a collaborative, innovative, and service-oriented Online Learning & Outreach Librarian to join a dynamic, team-based library environment. Library staff contribute across functional areas, including instruction, outreach, and resource management.

The Online Learning & Outreach Librarian will work closely with faculty, students, and staff across multiple campuses to expand access to library services, integrate resources into courses, and improve the visibility and effectiveness of electronic collections. This role also contributes to maintaining and improving access to the library's electronic resources by supporting systems, troubleshooting access issues, and using data to inform decisions about collections and services.

Examples of Duties Essential Duties and Responsibilities 30% Online learning and instructional support
- Collaborate with faculty to integrate library resources, instruction, and research support into online and hybrid courses using established instructional design practices (e.g., learning outcomes alignment, backward design).
- Develop and maintain online learning objects (e.g., videos, tutorials, research guides, and Canvas modules) that support students at their point of need.
- Provide virtual reference, instruction, and research support across multiple modalities.
- Partner with faculty to promote information literacy and effective use of library resources (e.g. e-resources, E-Books, Libby, and OER) within coursework.
- Create scalable, reusable instructional materials that can be implemented across disciplines.
- Serve as a liaison to CWC outreaches and high school dual credit to support instruction and resource needs.
- Establish and maintain a library presence at outreach locations (ASI, Dubois, Lander, Jackson, Thermopolis, and Wind River) through a combination of scheduled in-person visits and virtual engagement.
- Develop outreach services using a phased approach, prioritizing high-need locations and expanding over time.
- Travel to outreach locations on a regular basis; travel is supported by institutional funding.
- Coordinate with outreach faculty, adjuncts, and site contacts to identify needs and deliver targeted instruction, orientations, and programming.
- Build relationships that support long-term engagement and consistent service delivery.
- Design and deliver services for outreach courses, dual enrollment, and high school dual credit students, with attention to access, equity, and varying levels of academic preparedness.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for day-to-day access to electronic resources, including troubleshooting authentication and discovery issues for students, faculty, and staff.
- Support the management and maintenance of electronic resources, including databases, eBooks, and digital collections across their lifecycle including setup, maintenance, and renewal processes in coordination with the Library Director.
- Acts as the primary point of contact with electronic resource providers to resolve technical issues.
- Troubleshoot access issues related to authentication, proxy services (e.g. EZproxy), and link resolvers in collaboration with CWC Library staff, CWC IT, Wyoming Library Database (WYLD), Wyoming Community College Consortium representatives, and vendors to ensure reliable user access.
- Coordinate electronic resource trials, gather feedback, and contribute to evaluation and selection decisions.
- Collect, document, analyze, and interpret usage data (e.g., COUNTER reports, cost-per-use metrics) to inform decision-making and improve resource visibility.
- Maintain documentation, procedures, and workflows related to electronic resource management and access.
- Contribute to the evaluation, renewal, and deselection of electronic resources in coordination with the Library Director.
- Assist with maintaining workflows related to acquisition, access, and lifecycle management of electronic resources.
- Collaborate with the CWC Librarian and Library Director to coordinate instruction and programming efforts.
- Works with other Library personnel to manage website content.
- Participate in library planning, assessment, and team-based decision-making.
- Develop and share reports that translate data into actionable insights for library and campus stakeholders.
- Evaluate outreach, instruction, and resource usage to improve services and align with institutional priorities.
- Contribute to a collaborative, flexible team environment and support shared library goals.
- Provide limited support for frontline service operations (e.g., circulation desk coverage) as needed; these duties are secondary to primary role responsibilities.
- Contribute to ongoing assessment efforts and strategic planning within the library.

Education
- Master's Degree in a related field
- Relevant experience in an academic or library setting demonstrating the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Familiarity with electronic resources in an academic library environment

- Equivalent combinations of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
Education
- MLIS or MLS from an ALA-accredited institution, or equivalent degree.
- 1-2 years experience supporting online learning or providing library instruction.
- Prior experience with the backend management of electronic resources.
- Experience with or demonstrated ability to learn library systems and technologies (e.g., ILS, discovery tools, proxy services, Springshare).
- Working knowledge of library platforms such as EBSCO suite, GOBI, ASPEN, or similar systems.
- Familiarity with usage data and basic assessment practices (e.g., COUNTER reports and SUSHI integrations).
- Experience working with diverse or rural student populations.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze information and apply findings to decision-making.
- Commitment to inclusive, student-centered service.
- Skill in designing and delivering library instruction in multiple formats (in-person, online, and hybrid).
- Skill in developing clear, engaging instructional materials (e.g., tutorials, guides, videos) that support student learning.
- Ability to troubleshoot basic technical and access issues related to electronic resources.
- Ability to interpret and apply basic data (e.g., usage statistics) to support decision-making.
- Knowledge of emerging trends in academic librarianship, online learning, and instructional support.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with faculty, staff, and students.
- Filing systems (alpha and numeric), word processing, databases, presentation, and spreadsheet applications, specifically GoogleDocs & Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Colleague/Ellucian).
- Knowledge of FERPA and applicable regulations.
- Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
- Maintain strict confidentiality related to sensitive administrative information.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team-based environment.
- Ability to follow policy and established methods and procedures.
- Ability to mediate conflict and resolve effectively.
- The library supports ongoing professional development, including training in instructional design, electronic resource management, and emerging technologies. Opportunities for conference participation and engagement with consortium initiatives are encouraged when funding allows.
- This position operates under the direct supervision of the Library Director, with opportunities for independent initiative and collaborative project leadership.
