Role Description The Fitness Supervisor is an on-site role based in Sarasota, FL, responsible for overseeing daily operations of the fitness facility, services, and programs as part of the healthcare system’s ambulatory division. This role includes supervising fitness staff, coordinating schedules, monitoring performance, and ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards set by SMH and the Medical Fitness Association. The Fitness Supervisor supports members and patients by providing guidance and training to staff on exercise programming, fitness assessments, and helping maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment. The role also involves collaborating with clinical and wellness teams to align fitness services with broader health initiatives, addressing member concerns, and contributing to program development and improvement. Qualifications Relevant bachelor’s degree in exercise science, kinesiology, or a related field is required. Nationally Accredited Personal Trainer or Exercise Physiologist certification required. Minimum of 2 years of fitness management perferred. Strong supervisory skills, including team leadership, staff scheduling, and performance oversight. Fitness instruction and personal training skills, with the ability to design and implement safe, effective exercise programs. Effective communication and customer service skills to interact professionally with diverse members, patients, and colleagues. Knowledge of exercise science, wellness, and injury prevention; certification as a fitness professional or personal trainer preferred. Experience in a fitness center, rehabilitation, or health care-related wellness setting is beneficial.
