Phlebotomist II

Pay Range: $24.51hr - $26.27hr


Job Overview:


The Patient Services Representative II (PSR II) represents the face of the organization to patients visiting for routine health care or insights into life-defining health decisions. The candidate draws quality blood samples from patients and prepares specimens for lab testing while following established practices and procedures. The candidate maintains direct contact with patients, creating an atmosphere of trust and confidence while explaining procedures and drawing blood specimens in a skillful, safe, and accurate manner. The candidate will demonstrate leadership behaviors while focusing on process excellence skills and sensitivity to patient confidentiality and accuracy. The successful candidate may be assigned to a doctor's office, a patient service center, or as business needs dictate. Training locations may vary based on trainer availability.


Responsibilities:

• Perform daily activities accurately and on time under the direction of the area supervisor.
• Maintain a safe and professional environment.
• Perform both forensic and clinical specimen collection and processing duties following established practices and procedures with confidence.
• Perform verification of patient demographic information and initials, including obtaining patient signature post-venipuncture to verify tubes were labeled in their presence and that the name on the label is correct.
• Maintain required records and documentation.
• Demonstrate organizational commitment and promote a positive image to patients, clients, employees, and the general public.

• Ability to provide quality, error-free work in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work independently with minimal on-site supervision.
• Excellent phlebotomy skills, including pediatric and geriatric collections.
• Flexibility and availability based on staffing needs, including weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime.
• Commitment to all policies and procedures, including dress code, employee health and safety, and guiding principles.
• Ability to make decisions based on established procedures and exercise good judgment.
• Must have reliable transportation, a valid driver's license, and a clean driving record, if applicable.
• Travel and flexible hours required to work at multiple locations and cover at patient service center or in-office phlebotomy locations with minimal notice.
• Capable of handling multiple priorities in a high-volume setting.
• Demonstrated superior customer focus, with the ability to communicate openly and transparently with peers, supervisors, and patients, accelerate and embrace change, and understand organizational operations.

Required Education:


High school diploma or equivalent. Medical training, such as medical assistant or paramedic training, is preferred. Phlebotomy certification is preferred, except where required by state law (such as California, Nevada, and Washington).


Work Experience:


3+ years of phlebotomy experience required, inclusive of pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections. Minimum 2 years of experience in a patient service center environment preferred. Customer service experience in a retail or service environment preferred. Keyboard and data entry experience required.
