Research Assistant - Center for Nursing Workforce Wayne State University is searching for an experienced Research Assistant at its Detroit campus location. Essential functions (job duties) Perform laboratory-based scientific techniques or clinical/population science (human subjects) research. Design and perform experiments, recruit participants for studies by developing surveys and interviewing candidates. Participate in implementing research objectives, ensuring compliance with all legal, regulatory, and protocol guidelines. Assist staff with experiments or research protocols as required. Communicate with principal investigator and Postdoctoral scholars/fellows on the status of research. Collect and log laboratory results, clinical outcomes, and/or survey data. Evaluate and perform data analysis using graphs, charts, or tables to highlight key points of research results collected in accordance with protocols. Proofread and edit research data and documents to ensure accuracy. Assist principal investigator with writing methods and summarizing/organizing data for preparing and presenting presentations at professional, scientific, and academic conferences, and for submission to peer-reviewed journals. Maintain laboratory work areas including routine maintenance of laboratory equipment. Order and organize required research supplies and records. Maintain cleanliness and organization of workstation. Perform other related duties as assigned. Unique duties Collect and review registration, evaluation, and survey data. Perform data management including database management, data collection, auditing, analysis, interpretation, and reporting. Assist evaluation team with summarizing/organizing data for presentations to community, professionals, grant funding opportunities, and conferences. Assist in designing data collection instruments, develop surveys, and create evaluation reports. Evaluate and present data using graphs, charts, or tables to highlight key outcome results of the program. Perform literature reviews, summarize findings, and present findings to evaluation committee. Provide assistance to Program Directors on input of data for MDHHS quarterly progress reports. Perform other related duties as assigned. Qualifications Education: Bachelor's degree. Bachelor’s degree in a related field of study (preferred). Requires advanced knowledge predominantly intellectual in character in a field of science or learning acquired through a prolonged course of specialized instruction. Experience: Entry level (less than a year of job-related experience). Experience performing basic research techniques or interacting with human subjects (preferred). Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Ability to work independently; ability to analyze, summarize and interpret research findings and data in reports and spreadsheets and communicate results; knowledge of scientific integrity principles; excellent time management and organization skills; excellent interpersonal and communication skills and demonstrated ability to work with others in a collaborative environment; Microsoft Office software skills. Preferred qualifications Education: Bachelor's degree in a related field (nursing, public health, community health, education, statistics). Working toward a Master's degree is an advantage. Experience: Entry level; experience with workforce development, performing basic analytical techniques, experience working in clinical education. Working conditions Under the direction of the Associate Program Director, provide scientific and technical assistance to complete office-based research. May assist in writing operational procedures, research protocols, and manuscript preparation. Design and perform research protocols independently or as directed through training in more difficult or specialized procedures to meet program needs. Typical work environment is an office setting. May require working non‑standard business hours including evenings and weekends. Limited travel is possible.
