Employment Opportunities We routinely accept applications for a future Office Clerk position. The role supports daily administrative tasks such as data entry, filing, scanning, drafting correspondence, and responding to phone and in‑person inquiries. Applicants will be kept on file for one year from the date of submission and considered as openings arise. The ideal candidate is a dependable and adaptable team player with strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to providing courteous professional support across departments. Location This position will be based in a county department office, depending on staffing needs and operational priorities. Work will be primarily performed in an office environment. Out‑of‑county travel is typically not required on a routine basis, although exceptions may apply for initial certification or continuing education. Travel reimbursement will follow County policy. The position reports to the department head of the assigned office or his or her designee. Job Duties Administrative Support Drafts and formats routine correspondence, memos, reports, and forms using Microsoft Word and Excel. Assists with document preparation, mail handling, and internal coordination between staff or departments. Supports the completion of standard office forms and internal paperwork as needed. Customer Service and Communication Answers phone calls and greets visitors in a professional and courteous manner. Routes inquiries to appropriate staff or departments and ensures timely follow‑up. Assists with handling basic requests from the public or vendors, as applicable. Records and File Management Maintains digital and physical records in an organized, secure, and accessible manner. Performs accurate data entry into internal software systems. Scans, copies, files, and retrieves records as requested. Scheduling and Logistics Assists with calendar coordination, meeting reminders, and basic scheduling requests. Prepares supporting materials for meetings as directed. Inventory and Supplies Helps monitor office supply levels and places or prepares restock requests. Assists with deliveries and organization of supplies as needed. Basic Accounting or Records Tasks (if applicable) Assists with filing invoices, receipts, or purchase orders under supervision. Supports entry‑level tracking of expenses or account numbers for clerical reconciliation purposes. Other Duties as Assigned Performs additional clerical or administrative duties as assigned in support of the department to which employee is hired. Minimum Qualifications Ability to type efficiently and accurately Ability to follow verbal and written instructions Ability to work independently and with a team Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Professional and courteous communication style Ability to maintain confidentiality in handling sensitive information Must be able to perform light moderate work, including lifting up to 30 pounds and handling tasks that require sitting, standing, stretching, bending, or walking for portions of the workday. Basic computer proficiency, to include working knowledge of Microsoft Office Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver’s license and demonstrate a safe driving record in accordance with county insurance requirements High school diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) Must be at least 21‑years‑old Must be willing to follow county policies, procedures, and departmental standards, including but not limited to demonstrating professional conduct, maintaining punctuality, showing a commitment to public service, and serving as a positive representative of Emanuel County as an organization Preferred Qualifications Associate degree or completion of technical school coursework in office administration, business, or a related field Prior experience in a clerical, administrative, or customer service position Familiarity with public sector settings such as accounting, legal, or human resources offices Pay Structure Emanuel County uses a grade‑and‑step pay system. Potentially classified as a Grade 4, Grade 5, Grade 6, Grade 8, Grade 10, or Grade 11 position, the hourly pay range of $14.43 to $25.54 represents the minimum to maximum compensation assigned to this position’s grade. Starting pay is set at the time of hire and is based on relevant experience, education, certifications, and licensure, along with internal equity and County policy. Placement within the range is determined on a case‑by‑case basis, and not all employees begin at the minimum or progress through every step. Opportunities for advancement within the range occur through approved step increases, promotions, or reclassification. Part‑time positions are limited to Step 5 within the pay plan and are not eligible for additional step increases beyond that level.
