- Assisting the Senior Leadership Team in planning, designing, and administering financial and compliance audit assignments and other projects
- Performing and overseeing audit team completion of complex audit assignments and projects, including direct supervision of Senior and Staff Auditors
- Interpreting and applying State and federal laws, rules and regulations and changes in accounting principles to assign audit work
- Independently evaluating performance to identify an individual's professional development and training needs
- Assisting senior management in developing new uses of technology in the audit process
- Applying sound judgment and performing work independently
- Expertise regarding generally accepted accounting principles (FASB/GASB)
- Expertise regarding AICPA/GAO auditing standards for governmental organizations
- Expertise applying modern management principles, practices, and techniques
- Expertise applying State and federal laws, rules, and regulations
- Knowledge of diverse operational environments of governmental entities
- Ability to interact with all levels of government personnel and to effectively represent the Office
- Ability to plan, organize, assign, and direct audit activities, including continual assessment of audit risk and adjustments to audit plans as necessary
- Ability to review the work of staff for accuracy, completeness, and conformance to auditing standards
- Ability to analyze and evaluate complex accounting transactions, information technology systems, and systems of internal control
- Ability to interpret complex laws and technical information
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
- are certified as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), or Certified Information System Auditor (CISA).
- have a CPA designation or those who have made progress obtaining this certification.
