Junior Associate Attorney

Neiley Law is a leading boutique family law firm in the beautiful Roaring Fork Valley, with the firm’s main office based in Carbondale, a short distance from Aspen. For a small mountain firm, we have a fast-paced and heavy litigation practice that continues to grow. Our main clientele is from the local communities of Aspen, Basalt, Carbondale, Glenwood Springs, the I-70 corridor, and surrounding mountain regions, but we serve clients throughout Colorado. We handle cases ranging from straightforward dissolutions to complex, high-asset property division and business valuation matters, all levels of parental rights disputes, the litigation of marital agreements and trust interests, post-decree issues, and more. In addition to the firm’s owner and lead attorney, the firm is made up of a small team of professionals who have worked for Colorado’s top family law litigators, including two Paralegals and a Licensed Legal Paraprofessional. Combined, we have over forty-nine years of experience in family law litigation. About the Position The firm is hiring a Junior Associate. The position is built for genuine professional development and mentorship, working directly under the firm's owner, with hands-on training. The role of Junior Associate is a client-facing position that offers room for significant growth within the firm and the opportunity to establish, maintain, or build a career in a desirable location and amongst a small community of sophisticated, outstanding attorneys. Work directly with the owner in analyzing legal issues and developing case strategy. Conduct legal research and draft various pleadings, motions, and other legal documents. Review, preapare, and analyze disclosures and discovery. Create and analyze marital balance sheets, financial worksheets, exhibits, and other financial records. Attend hearings and depositions starting as second-chair with the opportunity to sit first-chair when ready. Appear and represent clients during routine, uncontested court appearances. Attend and participate in mediations. Meet and communicate directly with clients, opposing parties and counsel, the court, and other involved professionals such as CPAs, valuation experts, and parental rights experts. Provide support to firm LLPs. Qualifications Licensed to practice law in Colorado (or eligible for admission). 0–2 years of experience of litigation - family law or other litigation experience is a plus but not required (we are happy to train the right person). Genuine interest in family law and fast-paced litigation involving regular court appearances and motions work. Excellent research and writing skills required. Ability to manage sensitive issues with empathy and professionalism. A quick-thinker and self-starter who has a calm demeanor and a sense of humor. Compensation & Benefits Salary Range: $80,000–$105,000, commensurate with experience and training needs. Starting salary will increase after training period of 3-6 months. 100 billable hours per month required after training period is complete. Annual bonus for billable hours exceeding 1,200 in the year, with a clear path to a revenue-based bonus structure and promotion within the firm.
