Position Type: Support Staff/ Educational Assistant Date Posted: 7/1/2026 Location: Dorris Intermediate School Closing Date: 07/22/2026 Job Details Salary & Benefits: Refer to the contract at Work Day: 7 ½ hours a day (includes ½ hour unpaid lunch) Work Year: 180 days (corresponding to the days teachers are on duty) Qualifications Must have at least 60 semester hours of college credit or pass an approved paraprofessional test. Must be able to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Must demonstrate a patient and receptive attitude toward children with special needs. Must demonstrate a professional attitude about the position. Must be able to maintain confidentiality regarding students’ academic and social/behavioral performance. Must be able to work both independently and cooperatively as a member of a team. Must be able to effectively and tactfully present information in one‑on‑one or small group situations to staff, parents, students, and administrators. Must maintain composure under stressful conditions. Must perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies. Physical Demands Ability to lift and/or move heavy objects, including the movement of students who are physically disabled and adaptive equipment. Possession of fine motor skills. Unrestricted mobility: the ability to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl. Good visual ability. Ability to hear in a noisy environment. Duties & Responsibilities Carry out written and/or verbal instructional plans provided by the certified teacher. Assist with academic and learning activities through tutoring, note taking, modeling, mentoring, duplicating, grading, constructing materials, and general clerical work. Assist with control of students through interaction and supervision as directed by the certified teacher. Assist with non‑instructional activities, including providing daily and emergency personal care needs of students: wheelchair movement and positioning, toileting, feeding, and other appropriate activities. Carry out other assigned duties and responsibilities appropriate to the position.
