Utility Energy Storage Sales Engineer | High-Growth BESS Company

We’re partnered with a rapidly scaling global energy technology company expanding aggressively across the USA. They’re already well-established internationally and are now building serious momentum in the American market, particularly across utility-scale energy storage.

The Role

This is a senior, technical-commercial position focused on winning and growing strategic utility and developer accounts across either the East or West Coast (depending on your preference/location/network).

You'll be the technical voice in the sale: scoping solutions, defending designs in due diligence, and carrying deals from first conversation through to close and handover. You'll work closely with leadership and engineering in a market that's scaling fast.

You need to be technically credible first and commercially sharp second. Senior stakeholders will expect real answers on performance, integration and bankability, not a standard pitch.

What You'll Be Driving

• Owning technical relationships with key utility, developer and IPP customers
• Scoping and sizing BESS solutions against customer requirements (capacity, duration, use case, site constraints)
• Leading technical content in tenders, RFPs and proposals, and supporting contract negotiations
• Running technical deep-dives, design reviews and customer due diligence
• Building commercial and technical business cases (performance, degradation, LCOS, revenue stack)
• Working with engineering and product teams to feed customer requirements back into the roadmap
• Managing pipeline and opportunities in CRM, delivering against order intake targets
• Gathering market and technical intelligence to shape positioning and strategy
• Representing the business at industry events, conferences and customer forums

What We're Looking For

You understand energy storage at a technical level, and you know how to win deals with it.

You've spent years working with utilities, developers or asset owners, and you can explain how a storage system performs, integrates and earns. You're comfortable with interconnection, grid codes, policy, incentives and regulatory frameworks, and you can turn technical detail into commercial value.

You likely bring:

• 7+ years in sales engineering, technical sales or pre-sales roles with complex, strategic customers
• A technical background in electrical, power systems or energy engineering (degree or equivalent experience)
• Strong experience in renewable energy (storage, solar, wind or generation)
• A track record of supporting large, structured deals through technical due diligence to close
• Confidence presenting to engineers and executives alike
• A solid grasp of BESS architecture, project development cycles and market dynamics

Bonus points for hands-on experience with BESS design, commissioning or integration, and a working knowledge of compliance (UL/NFPA standards), incentives and grid interconnection.
