NURSE PRACTITIONER OR PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT - OUTPATIENT NEUROLOGY

New Braunfels, Texas | Texas Hill Country, between San Antonio and Austin | Full-Time

THE SHORT VERSION

- $125,000-$165,000 base, plus a bonus opportunity of up to 40% of annual salary. At the top of that range, total compensation potential reaches roughly $231,000.

- The demand already exists. The practice's neurologist is booked out through at least the end of the year. This role was created to open access to a full waiting list, not to build a panel from scratch.

- Outpatient, non-surgical neurology in a physician-led clinic, with a clearly defined split between your panel and the supervising neurologist's.

- A stable, growing practice: part of a physician-led, value-based healthcare organization operating more than 40 clinics with over 1,100 professionals. The founding physician is still practicing and involved.

 

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

You will work directly alongside the clinic's neurologist to deliver comprehensive outpatient neurological care: managing follow-up patients, performing neurological assessments, coordinating diagnostic testing, providing patient education, and supporting chronic disease management. The purpose of the role is to improve patient access and continuity while maintaining a high standard of neurological care.

The clinic is part of a physician-led organization built around value-based care, with services spanning chronic disease management, women's health, wellness, urgent care, managed care, and workers' compensation. The clinic continues to grow and add to its team.

 

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Clinical Care

- Conduct comprehensive neurological histories and examinations

- Evaluate and manage common neurological conditions: migraine and headache disorders, peripheral neuropathy, dementia and memory disorders, Parkinson's disease and movement disorders, stable epilepsy, stable multiple sclerosis, essential tremor, dizziness and balance disorders, post-stroke follow-up, and sleep-related neurological disorders

- Develop and implement treatment plans under physician supervision

- Prescribe medications, monitor therapeutic response, and adjust therapy according to established protocols

- Counsel patients on diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment options; coordinate referrals to specialists and ancillary services

 

Diagnostic Management

- Order and interpret MRI and CT imaging, EEG studies, EMG / nerve conduction reports, laboratory testing, and neuropsychological evaluations

- Review outside records and diagnostic reports ahead of physician consultation, and prepare complex patients for physician review

 

Care Coordination

- Manage follow-up schedules and track pending diagnostic studies

- Coordinate infusion therapies and specialty medications, and assist with prior authorizations for neurological medications

- Coordinate home health, therapy services, and community resources; educate and support patients and caregivers

 

Documentation

- Complete timely, accurate EHR documentation with appropriate coding and billing (the clinic uses AI tools to assist with coding)

- Maintain quality metrics and compliance requirements, and participate in population health and registry initiatives

 

HOW THE PANEL IS DIVIDED

This is not an ambiguous role. The split is already defined.

You independently manage:

- Stable migraine patients

- Neuropathy follow-ups

- Medication monitoring visits

- Dementia follow-ups

- Parkinson's disease follow-ups

- Stable epilepsy patients

- Post-hospital neurological follow-up

- Test result reviews

 

The supervising neurologist manages:

- New complex consultations

- Diagnostic dilemmas

- Neurodegenerative disease workups

- Complex seizure disorders

- Movement disorder diagnostics

- Neuromuscular disease evaluations

- EMG interpretation and Botox procedures

- Advanced therapeutics

WHAT YOU NEED

Required

- Master's or doctoral degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program

- Current Texas NP or PA license

- DEA registration

- BLS certification

- Ability to work within a physician-led neurology practice

- Strong clinical assessment and documentation skills

 

Preferred

- 5+ years of neurology experience, outpatient preferred. Candidates with less experience will be considered based on where they have practiced in the specialty

- Experience with migraine management, and with dementia and memory disorders

- Familiarity with EEG, EMG, and neuroimaging

- Managed care and value-based care experience; Medicare risk adjustment experience

 

Bilingual skills are not required for this position.

 

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

- Base salary of $125,000-$165,000

- Bonus opportunity of up to 40% of annual salary, based on patient volume, record keeping, and clinic performance. The team is considering a move to quarterly bonus payouts.
