A 100% employee-owned company, we provide dedicated sales, rentals, parts, and service support for customers in the tree care, landscaping, wood waste, organic recycling, underground construction, and mining industries.POSITION FUNCTION: The Shop Foreman is responsible for coordinating and directing skilled repairs and maintenance of equipment. Provides excellent customer service, maintains professionalism, and ensures detailed records are accurate and up to date.ESSENTIAL PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:Assume responsibility for overall condition of the shop by: Properly prioritizing equipment and shop repairsMaintaining a consistent workflow in the shop by assigning work to technicians according to skill levelPerforming final quality inspections on repairs as neededEnforcing all health and safety policies and proceduresEnsuring repair deadlines are metPerforming equipment and machinery repairs as neededProfessionally addressing and resolving customer questions and/or concernsProviding manager with daily shop progress reportAssuming responsibility of closing internal and warranty machine work orders as neededProviding mentorship to all techniciansMaintaining complete and detailed working recordsMaintaining and caring for all shop tools, machines and equipmentHelp maintain cleanliness, neatness and safety of building and lotStay current with the latest trends and developments within your field and industry by continuing your education with Factory Service Schools, VGP Service Schools, Individual Development Plans, etc.Follow all safety rules and regulations while performing work assignments and adheres to all policies and procedures as specified in Employee HandbookOther duties as assignedMeasure of success determined by established company guidelines, including but not limited to the ability to successfully perform the above responsibilities, feedback from customers and technicians, the ability to take guidance and direction from Manager professionally, and execute upon such feedback.QualificationsKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:Must be committed to and take a pro-active approach to our Company Mission, Vision and ValuesStrong PC proficiency with MS Windows, MS Office Suite, CDK a plusDemonstrated experience with hydraulic systems, electrical, electronics, pneumatics, diagnosing and calibrationOwns and maintains personal tools and toolbox preferredMechanical/technical aptitude with excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detailStrong current electronic diagnosing capabilitiesExcellent working knowledge of equipment operations and mechanical functionsDemonstrated safe work habitsExcellent leadership skillsHigh degree of customer service to both internal and external customersStrong ability to adapt to the people and environment around them - customers, suppliers, co-workers and manufacturer's employeesAbility to conduct yourself in a professional, ethical and reliable manner with minimal supervisionStrong verbal and written communication skills in order to communicate professionally, respectfully and honestly at all timesMust be able to lift at least 50 lbs, stand, walk, use hands and fingers, handle, feel, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk and hear 100% of the timeAbility to be exposed to extreme weather elements, including wet and/or humid conditions, extreme cold and extreme heat regularlyAbility to withstand moderate to high noise level in working environment regularlyMust be able to work overtime and/or weekends as neededQUALIFICATIONS:Associate degree in Applied Science, Diesel Mechanics, Diesel Technology, or related field, and 5 years of technician experience in heavy equipment or industrial equipment industry; or equivalent combination of education and experience required5+ years Vermeer Technician experience preferred2 years of leadership experience requiredVermeer Core Skills Certification required within 6 monthsVermeer Advanced Technician Certification required within 18 months2 engine manufacturer certifications required within 1 yearMust have a valid unrestricted Driver's License and ability to maintain one throughout employmentBackground check, pre-employment drug testing and clean driving record requiredFLSA status: Non-exemptEOE
