Registered Dietitian II/III - Pediatrics Multispecialty (Hepatology)

Position Summary The Registered Dietitian II is responsible for intermediate to advanced assessment, planning, implementation, and oversight for patients with low to high‑complexity nutritional needs. The role works independently, functions as an experienced registered dietitian, and engages in quality improvement measures to enhance patient care. The position provides care for pediatric liver patients, supports general gastroenterology pediatric clinics, and may support pediatric nephrology clinics. Position Key Accountabilities Nutrition Counseling: Provide detailed dietary advice to patients, tailoring interventions to individual needs; recommend and counsel patients, families, and caregivers on appropriate nutrition plans to improve disease or condition management. Treatment Plan Development and Implementation: Craft and execute comprehensive personalized nutrition plans in coordination with healthcare teams; maintain clear, accurate records according to policies and regulations. Nutrition Education and Material Development: Utilize and personalize patient and family education materials. Professional Development & Collaboration: Facilitate training of colleagues and foster collaborative relationships to encourage professional growth. Community & Health Agency Collaboration: Provide nutritional program information to community health agencies. Marketing & Promotion of Nutrition Services: Increase awareness of nutrition services and participate in team discussions to identify clinical trends. Quality Improvement Participation: Engage in continuous improvement activities to optimize nutrition care outcomes. Perform other duties as assigned. Certification & Skills Professional judgment within limits of licensing. Excellent communication and collaboration skills. Proficient in the nutrition care process and model. Good counseling skills for multi‑ethnic communities and varied learning levels. Maintain dietetic registration and continuing education hours per Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and state regulations. Handle biohazardous, chemical, and radiological materials safely; follow safety training and PPE requirements. Registered Dietitian (RD) by Commission on Dietetic Registration required. Licensed Dietitian by Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation required. Clinical specialty certification within 6 months of hire. Minimum Education Graduate of an accredited or approved nutrition education program per credentialing body. Minimum Experience 3 years of Registered Dietitian experience. Physical Requirements Occasional exertion up to 20 pounds; frequent up to 10 pounds; negligible amount constantly to move objects. Security Sensitive Security‑sensitive position per Texas Education Code 51.215, Texas Government Code 411.094, and other statutes. Requires ability to maintain security or integrity of critical infrastructure as defined in Texas Business and Commerce Code. Annual security reviews covering criminal history and affiliations.
