Contract | Night Shift | Onsite | Expected 3x12-hour shifts per week | 2 weekends every 4 weeks required | Holiday rotation consistent with core staff (one major, two minor holidays)

Key Responsibilities

• Provide high-acuity telemetry nursing care on a 34-bed cardiac telemetry floor functioning at a PCU/stepdown level, with a 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio
• Care for patients with diagnoses including post-CVA, rule-out CHF, respiratory failure, diabetes, hypertension, post-op, and post-cardiac cath/PCI (travelers are not assigned cath/PCI patients)
• Independently read and interpret cardiac monitor strips; GE telemetry is monitored by monitor techs on a separate unit, with monitors also available on the unit
• Administer and titrate heparin drips; manage non-titrating drips (e.g., cardizem); no insulin drips or titrating vasoactive drips beyond heparin
• Maintain stroke certification and apply competency in the care of stroke patients throughout the assignment
• Float as needed to medical-surgical telemetry floors (5th, 6th, and 7th floors); perform primary nursing when nurse aide support is unavailable

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license valid in California
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Stroke certification required with demonstrated experience caring for stroke patients
• Prior experience in telemetry, stepdown, or PCU required
• Ability to read and interpret cardiac rhythm strips independently
• Must live at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible
• Must not have been employed as a permanent or per diem staff member at a CommonSpirit facility within the past 12 months
• This travel assignment must be the candidate's primary professional commitment; secondary employment that conflicts with the assignment schedule is not permitted
• If placed on standby, candidate must be available to respond within 30 minutes
• Block scheduling and set scheduling cannot be accommodated

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience with Cerner EMR preferred (candidates with Cerner experience may receive a 2-day unit orientation; those without may receive 3 days)
• Comfort with bi-pap management
• Experience in a Level II facility environment
