Complex Claims Director, Excess

Through a robust stakeholder feedback loop and supported by consistent processes and leadership, we take pride in delivering responsive, fair and professional service with empathy and efficiency.**How you will create an impact*** Determining scope and extent of available primary and excess coverage and issuance of appropriate coverage position letters;* Development and execution of investigation strategies which identify critical issues effecting liability, causation, and damages;* Assessing and, as warranted, pursuing risk transfer and contribution opportunities;* Clear and concise communication and contact with internal and external stakeholders including insureds, brokers, and underwriters;* Evaluating claim exposures and setting appropriate reserves;* Developing and implementing resolution strategies including utilization of ADR;* Presentation to senior management of claim disposition recommendations;* Independent and proactive negotiation of multi-million dollar claims with top plaintiff attorneys nationwide after securing appropriate authority;* Effectively managing litigation costs in coordination with counsel, vendors, and insureds; and* +/- 25% travel.**What you will need to succeed*** 5+ years of Commercial/Industry claims experience preferred;* Excellent communication ability (verbal/written) and strong negotiation skills;* Advanced experience and capabilities in litigation claims management including ADR and mediation process;* Experience attending and controlling claims - pre-suit, litigated and post-trial - at mediations, settlement conferences, etc.;* JD helpful but not required;* Property and Casualty adjusting licenses required and must be obtained within 6 months;* Motivated individuals who are interested in potential for an upwardly mobile career path; and* Potential for flexible work arrangementFor positions based in New York, the base salary range is $105,000 - $135,000. For positions based in Illinois, the base salary range is $105,000 - $128,000. In addition, the position is eligible for a bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable incentive plan.
