Job Description - Elementary Classroom Teacher Starting Date: Immediately Job Title: Certified Classroom Teacher - Elementary Salary Range: T01 – T06 Department: Curriculum and Instruction Reports To: Building Principal FLSA Status: Exempt Position Summary: Kansas City Public Schools seeks an elementary classroom teacher who will inspire and challenge students to achieve their highest potential, foster a love of learning, and create a safe and inclusive classroom environment. This role focuses on high-quality instruction and collaboration with colleagues, families, and the community to prepare students for college, careers, and beyond. What You'll Be Doing: Instructional Delivery (ELA): Develop and deliver lesson plans that meet state and district standards; employ diverse teaching strategies and technology; continuously assess understanding and adjust instruction; collaborate with instructional coaches, department chairs, and teachers to align curriculum and instructional practices. Student Assessment and Progress Monitoring: Regularly assess and analyze student performance through formative and summative assessments; maintain accurate records (grades, attendance, progress reports); use data to drive instructional decisions and provide targeted interventions; collaborate with stakeholders to meet individual student needs. Classroom Management and Student Engagement: Establish a positive classroom culture; ensure safety and well-being; implement effective management strategies to maximize learning time; support social-emotional development; collaborate with families and stakeholders to address behavior concerns. Professional Development and School Collaboration: Participate in professional development; contribute to schoolwide initiatives; attend meetings and events; serve on school committees to support a positive school climate.
