As a Fitter Structural Fitter with Unite Contracting Solutions in Kenner, Louisiana, you will play a central role in assembling and preparing steel components that form the backbone of industrial and commercial structures. The Fitter Structural interprets blueprints, drawings, and specifications to lay out, position, and align metal parts before welding. Working alongside welders, supervisors, and fellow fabricators, you will help transform raw materials into finished assemblies that meet exacting standards. • Read and interpret structural drawings, weld symbols, and fabrication specifications to determine fit-up requirements.
• Lay out, measure, and mark materials accurately using tapes, squares, levels, and other measuring tools.
• Position, align, and secure metal components with clamps, jigs, and fixtures before welding.
• Cut, grind, and bevel steel using torches, saws, and grinders as needed to achieve proper fit.
• Tack-weld parts in place and verify alignment before final welding is performed.
• Inspect completed fit-ups for dimensional accuracy and conformance to project specifications.
• Collaborate with welders and supervisors to resolve fit-up challenges efficiently.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, following all shop and site safety procedures.
• Operate overhead cranes, hoists, and rigging equipment to safely move heavy components safely.

• Strong mathematical and spatial reasoning skills for accurate layout work.
