HVAC Maintenance Technician

Salary $40,824.00-$49,183.00

Primary Purpose:

To maintain a preventive maintenance schedule for all HVAC systems throughout the District.

Qualifications:

1. High School Graduate or hold a GED Certificate or demonstrate the ability of successful fulfillment of assigned responsibilities.
2. Have an acceptable driving record to standards developed by the Department of Public Safety and the Education Agency (10 point system).
3. Minimum of 2 years' experience in HVAC/refrigeration (certification preferred).

Minimum Education/Certification:

Special Knowledge/Skills:

1. Ability to supervise.

Minimum Experience:

Working knowledge of HVAC Systems.

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

1. To report immediately to Lead man or Assistant Lead man any damage to air conditioning or heating equipment.
2. Maintain records of all filter work done on A/C and kitchen vents.
3. To work cooperatively with other departments in maintaining school properties.
4. To maintain safety standards when operating equipment.
5. Change out fan motors on HVAC units when needed.
6. Clean all condenser and evaporator coils as needed.
7. Clean out hot and cold-water strainers.
8. Replace thermostats when needed.
9. Perform preventive maintenance on all units as scheduled.
10. Maintain or replace chilled water fountains.
11. Keep an inventory of assigned tools, vehicles and building supplies.
12. To perform other duties and functions assigned by supervisor.

Equipment Used:

Uses power tools, hand tools, roto-rooter, air tools, step ladders, jack hammers, shovel.

Working Conditions:

Physical Demands:

Strenuous walking, standing, and/or climbing; heavy lifting, pushing, pulling, some stooping, bending, kneeling.

Environment:

Work outside and inside; exposure to hot and cold temperatures; exposure to dust, toxic chemicals, and materials; slippery or uneven walking surfaces; work on ladders.
