As a Forward Deployed Engineer, you will be on the front lines of deploying high-impact AI agents, partnering closely with customers and collaborating with our software and machine learning teams to drive successful, real-world implementations. You'll design and develop intelligent agents, integrate them seamlessly with external systems, and provide hands-on technical guidance to ensure adoption and value realization, while also contributing to the continuous evolution of our core automation platform. This role is ideal for a self-driven, adaptable engineer who thrives at the intersection of cutting-edge AI, customer engagement, and practical problem solving.This position reports to our Manager, AI ServicesHybrid role with regular onsite workdays in our San Jose, CA office strongly preferredYou will make an impact by being responsible for:Developing, configuring, and deploying AI agents using Automation Anywhere's AI platform and toolsIntegrating AI agents with external systems (APIs, databases, CRMs, etc.) to ensure seamless workflow integrationOptimizing agent performance (e.g. fine-tune prompts and configurations) and troubleshoot issues in complex enterprise environmentsCollaborating with customers and internal stakeholders to gather technical requirements and translate business needs into AI Agent solutionsConducting interactive demos and presenting compelling proof-of-concepts to customers, proactively gather feedback, and iteratively refine solutions to meet objectivesDefining project milestones, creating implementation plans, and coordinating execution with internal teams to ensure on-time deliveryServing as a trusted technical advisor for the customer, guiding best practices for AI agent adoption and usageYou will be a great fit if you have:Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field4+ years of experience in software development, AI/ML engineering, or system integrationProficiency in Python, with the ability to write clean, efficient codeFamiliarity with AI/ML concepts. Hands-on experience with large language models (LLMs), and prompt engineering techniques are strongly preferredStrong understanding of general AI agent frameworks, function calling, and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG). Hands-on experience of building such a system is strongly preferredExperience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and DevOps practices (CI/CD, containerization, monitoring)Hands-on experience with integrating systems via APIs, webhooks, and data pipelinesAbility to use data-driven decision-making, including A/B testing and performance monitoring, to refine solutionsYou excel in these key competencies:Customer Partnership & Executive Presence – Ability to build trusted advisor relationships with customers, confidently lead technical discussions, deliver compelling demos, and translate complex AI concepts into clear, business-relevant outcomesCross-Functional Collaboration – Proven ability to work effectively across software engineering, machine learning, product, and services teams to align on requirements, drive execution, and deliver high-impact AI agent solutionsAdaptability & Learning Agility – Thrives in fast-moving, evolving AI environments; quickly absorbs new technologies, adjusts to changing customer needs, and iterates solutions based on feedback and real-world constraintsProblem Solving & Systems Thinking – Strong analytical mindset with the ability to diagnose complex technical and business challenges, identify root causes, and design scalable, pragmatic solutions in enterprise environmentsOwnership, Accountability & Execution Focus – Demonstrates a high degree of ownership from concept through deployment, proactively manages milestones and risks, and consistently delivers results with a bias toward action and outcomesThe salary range or on-target earnings (base salary + on-target incentives) for this position is $130,000 – 150,000 a year. The salary ultimately offered is determined through a review of education, industry experience, training, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant in alignment with market data and other factors.
