Assistant Professor of Molecular Biology and Biochemistry

Department of Molecular Biology and Biochemistry at Wesleyan University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Molecular Biology and Biochemistry beginning July 1, 2027. The selected candidate will develop an independent research program supported by extramural funding that integrates current biochemical, biophysical, or structural approaches to address fundamental problems in the life sciences, including nucleic acid structure/function, proteomics, molecular microbiology, protein structure and function, and enzyme kinetics. Responsibilities Teach undergraduate and graduate courses, with particular emphasis on biochemistry, advanced laboratory courses in biochemistry or molecular biophysics, and introductory and intermediate molecular biophysics courses. Teach one on-campus course each semester and facilitate a journal club or graduate seminar. Establish and maintain a research laboratory in the new life sciences building. Advise and mentor students and participate in faculty governance at departmental and university levels. Participate in the Ph.D. training program and cross-disciplinary initiatives in the life sciences. Qualifications Ph.D. in molecular biology or a related field. Postdoctoral experience in biochemistry, molecular biophysics, or structural biology. Demonstrated excellence in research and teaching. Ability to develop and secure extramural funding.
