Community Employment Program Specialist

Community Employment Program Specialist (S), NC06, located in Sanford (satellite office of the Chapel Hill office), supports individuals with disabilities in obtaining and maintaining competitive employment. The role develops and maintains relationships with employers in Lee and Chatham counties, assists in placement of eligible consumers, and works with counselors to determine vocational goals and locate suitable positions. Responsibilities Develop and maintain relationships with employers in Lee and Chatham counties. Assist in placement of eligible consumers in compatible, competitive employment. Work closely with counselors to determine appropriate vocational goals and identify the availability of similar positions in the community. Teach employment marketing and job retention classes to job‑ready consumers. Provide written and verbal feedback to counselors regarding the progress of referred consumers’ efforts to obtain employment. Coordinate in‑school work adjustment programs. Meet with local and regional employers to explain agency mission and goals and obtain their agreement and commitment to hire vocational rehabilitation consumers. Participate in job fairs and other community events to promote the agency and its consumers. Represent the work unit on boards and committees as designated. Be heavily involved in the planning and implementation of National Disability Employment Awareness events. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in human services, business administration, marketing, healthcare management, public administration, or a related field; or Associate’s degree plus two years of directly related work experience; or high school or GED plus four years of directly related work experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge or experience helping others obtain employment. Demonstrated experience working with the public. Preferred: experience in vocational rehabilitation or employment services. Salary & Benefits Salary range: $34,270 – $59,973. Recruitment range: $34,270 – $50,000.
