Production Superintendent Job Summary

The Production Superintendent is responsible for overseeing daily oil and gas production operations, field personnel, contractors, and production-related projects. This position focuses on maximizing production, reducing downtime, controlling operating costs, and ensuring safe and efficient field operations.

The Production Superintendent works closely with Pumpers, Engineering, Workover, Roustabout, Maintenance, and management to troubleshoot issues, optimize well performance, and execute operational priorities.

Production Superindendent Job Responsibilities

• Oversee daily production operations and well performance.
• Supervise, schedule, and develop Pumpers and production personnel.
• Monitor production, downtime, fluid levels, equipment performance, and operating conditions.
• Identify and troubleshoot underperforming wells and production issues.
• Coordinate workovers, well servicing, downhole operations, and maintenance.
• Oversee contractors, roustabout crews, service companies, and field projects.
• Manage and monitor lease operating expenses (LOE) and field budgets.
• Coordinate facility repairs, construction, capital improvements, and compliance projects.
• Work with Engineering and Operations to optimize production and reduce operating costs.
• Ensure employees and contractors follow Company safety policies and operating procedures.
• Maintain regular communication with management regarding production, costs, projects, and field issues.
• Coach and hold employees accountable for performance, safety, and operational expectations.

Production Superintendent Job Qualifications

• 5–10+ years of oil and gas production/operations experience preferred.
• Previous field leadership or supervisory experience.
• Strong knowledge of pumping units, artificial lift, tanks, separators, flowlines, SWD systems, and production equipment.
• Experience with workovers, downhole operations, water floods, and production optimization.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
• Experience managing field personnel, contractors, and LOE budgets.
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel throughout assigned operating areas.
