Crossing GuardRichmond Middle School seeks a part time Crossing Guard, responsible for afternoon/dismissal duty, 2:45-3:15 p.m. (2:45-3:15 p.m. on Wednesdays). Rate of pay is $25.00/hour (shifts that last less than an hour paid at $25.00 per shift). Position starts immediately, open until filled.General Purpose:This position is responsible for safely assisting students in crossing streets in designated school zones as well as directing and controlling motor vehicle traffic in and out of school campuses.Reports To:Principal or DesigneeSupervises:NonePosition Duties and Responsibilities:Except as specifically noted, the following functions are considered essential to this position:Maintain a safe environment for students walking to and from school.Ensure that students and motorists follow safety laws so that students are provided with a safe environment to prevent injuries.Stop vehicles to allow students to cross at specific locations.Give understandable signals and direction to regulate the flow of vehicular and pedestrian traffic and use judgment in those duties to avoid unnecessary traffic tie-ups and to safeguard the students.Terms of Employment:Part Time; School yearPay per shiftMinimum Qualifications:Must complete crossing guard training prior to the first work day.Training will be organized and offered by the DistrictNecessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.Strong interpersonal skills and ability to enforce instructions with firmness and effectiveness.Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.Physical Activity Requirements:Primary Physical Requirements:(Not, Rarely, Occasionally, or Frequently Required)1.
