Job Summary:
The organization is seeking a Cardiac Care Unit (CVICU) Registered Nurse (RN) for a high-acuity, specialized position in a dedicated cardiac surgery unit located in Maryland. This role involves providing immediate post-operative care for cardiac surgery patients, including those who have undergone coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) or valve procedures, among other complex cardiovascular cases. The RN will deliver advanced patient care during night shifts, contributing to a collaborative interdisciplinary team environment.

Job Details:

• Shift: Nights, 3 days per week, 12 hours per shift (7:30 PM 8:00 AM)
• Schedule: Nights, 36 hours per week
• Certifications: Maryland RN license, ACLS, BLS; CPI certification required (online version from "Calm Every Storm")
• Experience: Minimum of 2 years of CVICU or open heart experience; 1 year of clinical experience preferred; at least 2 years of direct patient care experience in a similar setting
• Qualifications: Active Maryland or Compact RN license required; current ACLS and BLS certifications; experience with arterial line management, chest tube procedures, advanced cardiac monitoring, and post-operative cardiac care essential
• Patient Care Responsibilities: Management of ventilated patients, invasive lines (central lines, arterial lines), cardiac drips, emergency medications, and specialized cardiac procedures such as Impella or IABP; administered patient care for complex cases including cardiogenic shock, arrhythmias, and multisystem organ dysfunction
• Unit Details: Immediate post-op cardiac surgery care with a 1:1 patient ratio for the first 12 hours; interdisciplinary support includes respiratory therapy, social services, pharmacy, and rapid response teams
• Additional Notes: Floating required within the specialized unit and sister departments; holiday and every other weekend shifts required; flexible float to lower acuity units within scope
