Job Description

Join our team as a Collections Supervisor in a key leadership role reporting directly to the VP of Lending.

Although the title is Supervisor, this position functions at a management level and is responsible for leading the collections team and overseeing the servicing of members with past due consumer and residential loans.

We are looking for an experienced collections professional with strong leadership, risk management and problem solving skills, along with hands on expertise in late stage collections, skip tracing, bankruptcies, repossessions and asset recovery.

Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership

• Lead, develop and manage a cohesive, high performing collections team.

• Establish department goals and maintain accountability through effective performance management.

• Coach and develop team members while fostering engagement, collaboration and professional growth.

• Support training and incentive programs designed to improve performance and results.

Collections Operations

• Develop and implement effective collection strategies, procedures and workflows.

• Oversee delinquency management, late stage collections, asset recovery, repossessions, bankruptcies and legal processing.

• Ensure collection practices remain compliant with FDCPA and applicable regulatory requirements.

• Utilize technology, automation and emerging tools to improve efficiency and member service.

• Analyze collection performance and provide reporting and recommendations to senior leadership.

• Maintain acceptable delinquency and loan loss ratios while balancing risk management with member service.

Cross Functional Collaboration

• Partner closely with Lending, Risk, Legal and Technology teams to align collection strategies with organizational objectives.

• Maintain strong communication and collaboration across departments.

• Provide regular reporting, portfolio insights and recommendations directly to the VP of Lending and senior leadership.

Innovation and Process Improvement

• Stay current on industry trends, technology and collection best practices.

• Identify opportunities to improve processes, reduce losses and increase operational efficiency.

• Encourage creative problem solving and continuous improvement within the department.

Qualifications

Experience

• 5+ years of financial services experience.
• 2+ years of collections leadership experience within a credit union or bank.
• Strong experience with consumer loan collections and delinquency management.
• Experience with late stage collections, skip tracing, repossessions, bankruptcies and asset recovery.
• Previous experience supervising and developing collection staff.

Skills

• Strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent analytical, organizational and problem solving abilities.
• Ability to evaluate portfolio trends and use data to drive collection strategies.
• Proficiency with Excel, CRM systems and collection technology.
