Accountant

Position Summary: Maintains accounting records and prepares financial statements and analysis for Market America, Inc. and/or affiliated entities.This is an In-Office role in Greensboro, NC.Essential Function and Responsibilities:Prepares, examines, and analyzes accounting records, monthly financial statements, or other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting and procedural standardsMaintains and reconciles all assigned general ledger accountsMonitors and generates reports to management of cash balances for multiple affiliated entitiesPrepares journal entries and maintains and reconciles various general ledger accounts to ensure accurate monthly processesAnalyzes business operations, trends, costs and revenues to project future revenues and expenses or to provide adviceCompletes assigned tasks in the monthly close processExamines processes used to generate the journal entries that create the monthly financial statements, and confirms accuracy, completeness and relevancy of the elements usedDevelops, maintains and analyzes budgets, and prepares periodic reports that compare budgeted costs to actual costs, for both operating costs and capital expendituresDocuments processes and desktop procedures used in performing assigned responsibilitiesEstablishes, modifies, documents, and coordinates implementation of accounting and accounting control proceduresProvides work leadership and direction to other accountants and clerical workersPerforms advanced and specialized accounting assignments involving complex and confidential dataComply with company policies and proceduresPerform other duties as needed or requestedSupervisory Responsibilities:None, but may direct and train othersPerforms any other functions and duties assigned and necessary for the smooth and efficient operation of Market America.Education & Experience:Bachelors degree within finance or accounting; minor in computer information systemsTwo (2) to four (4) years of experience in finance and accounting or a combination of equivalent experience, education, and trainingComputer/Communication Skills:Proficient use of MS Office programs: Word, Excel and Outlook, requiredHigh energy level, comfortable performing multifaceted strategic projects in conjunction with day-to-day tactical activitiesAbility to get along and work with diverse personalities; tactful, mature, flexiblePrioritizes and models good communication skills; follow up, timely responses, proactive and positive in approachAbove moderate to high levels in reading comprehension, writing, and speaking in English; active listening; attention to detail; critical thinking; mathematics, creative problem solving; complex problem solving; and judgment.Above moderate levels of Spanish speaking, writing, and reading comprehension (Required) Travel:Annual conference participation and related travelPhysical Requirements and Work Environment:Normal office environment with little exposure to dust and weather conditions prevalent at the time (i.e., cold hot/humid)Routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, cameras, photocopiers, and filing cabinetsRegularly required to talk, walk, stand, bend, twist, reach with hands and arms, stoop kneel and crouchRaise and lower an object from one level to another, less than twenty (20) pounds.Visual acuity must be a minimum or 20/40 (corrected) and normal hand/eye coordinationNormal or corrected hearingMust be able to perform in an office environment where ninety (90) percent of work is performed sitting.Occasional long or irregular hours of workEqual Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.
