Job Description:Position Summary:Performs housekeeping and cleaning activities within well established guidelines and assigned areas.Maintain all areas of the facility in as clean and orderly as possible, using safe work practices and correct body mechanics in accordance to established procedures as well as state regulations. A secondary, but very important aspect of this position is to treat all members of the Orchard Cove community with respect and caring at all times.Core Competencies:Follows all policies, procedures and culture set forth by the organizationAble to accomplish all responsibilities without supervision/assistance after the training period is completedDemonstrates knowledge and efficient use of cleaning techniques, equipment and toolsCapable of finishing the daily schedule in the time allottedDemonstrates attention to detail and thoroughnessActs in a manner outside the traditional “role” as needed in order to meet residents’/patients’ needsExcellent professional customer service and communication skills and the ability to listen and follow oral instructionsMaintain confidentiality and privacy of the residentsContributes to the development of a culture of caringShows flexibility to meet the needs of the residents and staffDisplays integrity, honesty and good work ethicsPays attention to own and others safety while using equipment and suppliesPosition Responsibilities:Residential RoomsClean member apartments according to written assignmentsStay in assigned areas and assist other associates as necessary or directedConducting “flipper check”Wash, dust, polish, vacuum and sweep all areas of the apartmentClean sinks, tubs, showers and toilets according to prescribed sanitary standardsClean mirrors and windowsSort and wash laundry using machinesEmpty and clean trash cansCommon AreasClean common areas according to written assignmentsClean mirrors, sinks and toilets in common area restrooms according to prescribed sanitary standardsRemove debris/trash from the front of the building, driveways, and all common areas inside or outPosition Responsibilities (cont.):Wash, dust, polish, vacuum and sweep all areas of the lobby and commons area including the Front Desk and elevatorsEmpties ashtrays and urnsPeriodically check and restock all supplies including toilet paper, soap and hand towels in common area restroomsArrange all cushions properly on lobby sofaBothClean assigned areas, furnishings, and fixtures according to established housekeeping proceduresObserve and report any maintenance issuesListen and respond to resident, guest and staff requests and inquiriesStock and clean storage area for equipment and suppliesMaintain all equipment used in performing dutiesFollowing safety and infection control proceduresPerform other housekeeping related tasks as assignedQualifications:High school diplomaOne to two years housekeeping experience preferredCommand of English strongly preferredKnowledge of infection control policiesKnowledge of heavy equipment performanceWorking Conditions and Physical Demands:Prolonged periods of walking and/or standing. Also requires bending, stooping, reaching and moving light furnitureNeeds ability to lift up to 50 pounds. If more than 35 pounds a hand truck must be usedExposure to chemicals on a constant basis requiring special clothing (PPE), or safety equipmentThe individual spends over 95% of his/her time in an air-conditioned environment with varying exposure to noise.
