Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Labor & Delivery RN for a night shift contract requiring 2+ years of L&D experience and AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring certification.

Details

• Labor and Delivery unit with 1:2 patient ratio
• Facility averages 200-300 births per month
• Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
• Every other weekend required
• No on-call responsibilities
• Floating required to Antepartum unit
• Epic charting system preferred

Requirements

• Active CA RN license required
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, Fetal Heart Monitoring (FHM), and AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring
• Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience required
• Previous travel nursing experience required
• Skilled in high-risk antepartum and labor and delivery management including vaginal and C-section deliveries, forceps/vacuum extraction, and hemorrhage/shock response
• Experience with fetal monitoring including external and internal fetal monitoring and IUPC placement
• Experience administering medications such as Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate, antihypertensives, and insulin drips
• Experience caring for high-risk obstetric patients including those with pre-eclampsia, HELLP syndrome, placenta previa, and preterm labor
• Experience with postpartum care including couplet care, cesarean section recovery, and lactation support
• 2 supervisor references obtained within the past year required for consideration

Additional Information

• Serve as the patient's primary nurse, managing care from admission through discharge
• Responsible for patient safety, comfort, and emergency response during labor, delivery, and postpartum care
• Assist with high-risk deliveries, VBAC management, and neonatal resuscitation in the delivery room
• Provide care for patients experiencing medical complications such as diabetes, cardiac disease, and substance abuse during pregnancy
• Local candidates accepted within a 50-mile radius at the local rate
• Maximum RTO of 7 days per contract, with only 1 holiday request approved per contract
• Holiday coverage required for New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas
• Former employees must have a 1-year separation period before returning as a traveler
• First-time travelers may be considered if they meet the experience requirements
